Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. The couple was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five and enrolled in an academy called the Dragon School. Emma had a dream to become a professional actor since she was at the age of six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting institute which offers classes for part-time students. Through a school play as well as a Stagecoach Production, Emma took the lead at the age 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight straight auditions. Emma's first film appearance came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The highest-grossing movie of 2001 it set new records for its opening day revenue as well as the opening weekend's earnings. Film critics praised the film as well as its performances by the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British paper, praised her for her performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in the Feature Film. Emma was recognized five times in recognition of her role in the movie.
